The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has released its preliminary report for December, revealing a seasonally adjusted increase of 1.8 percent in Japan's industrial production. Nevertheless, this figure falls short of the forecasted rise of 2.4 percent. It's worth noting that in November, there was a slip of 0.9 percent.
Analyzing the data on an annual basis, there has been a decrease of 0.7 percent in industrial production. The increase in December can be attributed to industries with a business-oriented focus including machinery, chemicals, and production machinery. However, this uptick was counteracted by a decline in other sectors such as ceramics and manufacturing in general.
After analyzing the data, the METI maintained its current evaluation of the industrial production landscape, stating that the industry's overall performance continues to be inconsistent and fluctuating.
