Dutch Inflation Rises To 5-Month High

Dutch inflation surged in June, reaching its highest rate in five months, according to a preliminary estimate released by the Central Bureau of Statistics on Tuesday.

Consumer prices rose by 3.2 percent year-over-year in June, accelerating from May's stable increase of 2.7 percent. The last time a similar growth rate was recorded was in January.

Inflation, as measured by the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), also climbed to 3.4 percent in June, up from 2.7 percent in May.

Annual price growth in food, beverages, and tobacco quickened to 4.4 percent in June, compared to 3.1 percent in the previous month. Service costs saw a slight uptick, growing at 4.6 percent against May's 4.5 percent increase.

Conversely, prices for industrial goods, excluding energy and motor fuels, fell by 0.5 percent compared to last year.

The final data for June is scheduled for release on July 9.
