Mexico's GDP Stagnates in Fourth Quarter as Economic Growth Hits Plateau

Mexico's economic progress seemingly hit a standstill as the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) remained unchanged in the fourth quarter of 2024. Official data, updated on 21 February 2025, indicates that the GDP growth rate continued to rest at -0.6%, showing no improvement from the previous measurement.

In a quarter-over-quarter comparison, the lack of change highlights an economic plateau following a similar decline in the previous period. The GDP had already hit -0.6% in the fourth quarter of 2024 compared to the third quarter of the same year, marking a persistent pause in growth.

While the stagnation may suggest underlying economic challenges, it also underscores the necessity for policy revisions or innovations that could stimulate growth and vitality in Mexico's economic landscape moving forward.
