Canada Wholesale Sales Rise Slightly Less than Expected

In February 2025, Canada's wholesale sales saw a modest increase of 0.3% from the previous month, reaching a total of $85.7 billion, though falling just short of the anticipated 0.4% rise. This growth was primarily driven by the machinery, equipment, and supplies sector, which surged by 7.1% to $19 billion. Within this category, the computer and communications equipment and supplies industry experienced a significant uptick of 11.2%, reaching $5.3 billion. Conversely, the motor vehicles and motor vehicle parts and accessories segment experienced a downturn, with sales dropping by 3.1% to $14.3 billion. When adjusted for volume, wholesale sales increased by 0.2% in February. Additionally, the inventory-to-sales ratio rose from 1.50 in January to 1.53 in February.
