Danish Trade Surplus Hits Record High in May

Denmark's seasonally adjusted trade surplus for goods and services rose to DKK 37.8 billion in April 2025, up from a revised DKK 26.4 billion in March. This figure represents the highest surplus recorded since 1960. The increase was driven by a 4.1% rise in exports, totaling DKK 180.7 billion. This growth was primarily due to a significant 7% increase in goods exports, which compensated for a slight 0.1% decrease in services exports. Conversely, imports decreased by 2.9% to DKK 142.9 billion, primarily due to a 6.2% drop in services imports, while goods imports remained unchanged. During the first four months of 2025, Denmark's trade surplus reached DKK 107.6 billion, an increase from DKK 80.6 billion during the same timeframe in 2024.
