Austrian Economy Grows 0.1% in Q3

In the third quarter of 2025, Austria's economy experienced a modest expansion, growing by 0.1% quarter-on-quarter, according to preliminary estimates. This follows a revised contraction of 0.1% in the second quarter. The growth, albeit at a more subdued rate, was maintained through household consumption, which grew by 0.1%, down from 0.3% in the previous quarter, and government spending, which increased by 0.2% compared to 0.3% before. However, fixed investment saw a decline, decreasing by 0.3% after a 1.3% rise in the previous quarter. Additionally, net trade had a dampening effect on the growth figure, with exports declining by 0.4% and imports showing no change.

In terms of production, the service sector bolstered growth, particularly in areas such as information, finance, and real estate, which saw a 0.3% increase, along with other business services and public administration, both up by 0.2%. Conversely, sectors like manufacturing, energy, and utilities remained flat, recording no significant change, while construction continued its downward trajectory, dropping by 0.5%. Additionally, sectors such as trade, transport, hospitality, and retail faced challenges, with a collective decrease of 0.2%.

On an annual basis, the GDP recorded a 0.6% increase, up from a revised 0.5% in the second quarter, marking the swiftest growth since the first quarter of 2023.
