Germany's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate held steady at 6.3% in October 2025, marking its highest point since late 2020, indicative of the persistent challenges faced by the labor market. Over the past two years, the nation has experienced economic contraction, exacerbated by US tariffs which have adversely affected exports and the industrial sector. Contrary to market forecasts predicting an increase of 8,000, the number of unemployed saw a marginal decrease by 1,000, bringing the total to 2.97 million. In unadjusted terms, unemployment declined for a second consecutive month to 2.91 million, following an August peak above 3 million—an occurrence not seen in a decade.
