In September 2025, retail sales in Croatia experienced a year-on-year growth of 3.1%, building on a 2.4% increase observed in August. Notably, sales saw a more robust expansion in specialty stores dealing with automotive fuels and lubricants, which grew by 3.2% compared to 2.8% the previous month. Sales of automotive fuels and lubricants surged further, achieving a 7.6% growth against 6.5% in August, while the internet and mail-order trade sector also improved, climbing to 5.9% from 3%. The food, beverages, and tobacco sectors rebounded with a 1.9% rise, reversing a prior decline of 2.8%. Conversely, sales growth for non-food products slowed, falling to 5% from 8.7%. Month-over-month, retail turnover increased by 1.3% in September, compared with a 0.4% rise in the previous month. Over the January to September period, retail sales posted a 3.6% increase when compared to the same timeframe in the preceding year.
