Brazil Job Creation Rises in September

In September 2025, Brazil saw the creation of 213,002 formal jobs, marking an increase from the 147,358 positions added in August. During this period, the country recorded 2.29 million hires against 2.08 million layoffs. Job growth was observed across all major sectors, with construction leading the way with a 0.78% increase, translating to 23,855 new positions. The industrial sector followed with a 0.47% rise, adding 43,095 jobs. The services sector contributed 106,606 positions, reflecting a 0.45% growth. Meanwhile, the commerce and vehicle repair sectors experienced a 0.34% increase, equating to 36,280 jobs. Additionally, the sectors of agriculture, livestock, forestry, and fishing showed a modest growth of 0.17%, adding 3,167 jobs.

Regionally, Alagoas achieved the highest growth rate with a 2.99% increase, corresponding to 13,883 jobs. It was followed by Sergipe, which saw a 1.70% rise, and Paraíba with a 1.14% increase. In terms of job additions, São Paulo led with 49,052 new jobs, representing a 0.33% growth, while Rio de Janeiro reported an increase of 16,009 positions, a 0.40% rise. However, the average wage at the time of hiring declined from R$2,395.70 in August to R$2,286.34 in September.
