Poland Retail Sales Growth Rises in December

In December 2025, Poland experienced a 5.3% year-on-year increase in retail sales, an improvement from the 3.1% growth observed in November. This figure, however, was slightly below the anticipated market forecast of a 5.5% rise. The period saw a resurgence in sales across various sectors: food, beverages, and tobacco products saw a turnaround with a 1.9% increase compared to a decline of 2.9% in November. Similarly, sales of newspapers, books, and other specialized store items rose by 1.4%, recovering from a previous decrease of 5.2%.

Additionally, certain sectors observed accelerated growth. Sales of motor vehicles, motorcycles, and parts increased by 13.1%, up from 12.9%. There was also significant growth in the sales of solid, liquid, and gaseous fuels, which rose by 8.3% from 5.9%. Furniture, radio, TV, and household appliances experienced a surge with a 19.8% increase, up from 16.6%, while pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and orthopedic equipment sales grew to 8.4% from 2.1%. Other product categories saw sales expand by 8.6%, compared to a modest 0.9% previously. Conversely, the growth in sales of textiles, clothing, and footwear slowed, recording a 6.0% increase, down from 12.2%.

On a month-to-month comparison, December registered a substantial 12.5% spike in retail sales, effectively reversing the 3.3% decline seen in the preceding month.
