Sweden’s Annual Inflation Inches Up to 0.4% in January, Ending Three-Month Pause

Sweden’s consumer price inflation edged higher at the start of 2026, with the year-over-year Consumer Price Index (CPI) rising to 0.4% in January, up from 0.3% in December 2025. The fresh data, updated on 06 February 2026, indicate a modest acceleration in price growth after a period of relative stability.

Both the current and previous figures are calculated on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month with the same month a year earlier. The December 2025 reading of 0.3% marked a subdued inflation backdrop, and January’s 0.4% suggests a slight uptick rather than a sharp shift in trend. While still well below levels seen in many advanced economies in recent years, the move will be closely watched by markets and policymakers as a potential early signal of changing price dynamics in Sweden’s economy.
