Brazil’s IPC-Fipe Inflation Ticks Up to 0.25% in February, Easing From January’s Pace

Brazil’s IPC-Fipe inflation index edged higher in February 2026, rising 0.25% month-over-month, up from a 0.21% increase recorded in January 2026. The latest reading, updated on 3 March 2026, points to a modest acceleration in consumer prices in São Paulo, where the index is compiled.

On a month-over-month comparison basis, February’s print shows that price pressures strengthened slightly compared with the previous month’s change. In January, the 0.21% rise represented the comparison against December’s level, while February’s 0.25% reflects the change from January. Although the move is incremental, the back-to-back monthly gains underscore that inflationary dynamics remain present at the start of 2026.

The IPC-Fipe is closely monitored by markets and policymakers as a benchmark for consumer price trends. The gentle uptick from January to February will likely feed into assessments of how firmly inflation is trending and how that may influence expectations for monetary policy going forward.
