Hungary’s economy showed a modest improvement at the end of 2025, with gross domestic product (GDP) growth in the fourth quarter rising to 0.8% year-on-year, up from a previously reported 0.6% in the same quarter. The latest data, updated on 3 March 2026, point to a slight strengthening in economic momentum despite a still subdued overall growth environment.
On a year-over-year basis, the current reading compares the fourth quarter of 2025 to the fourth quarter a year earlier, while the previous figure reflected the same type of comparison for the earlier data point. The 0.2 percentage point uptick suggests that underlying activity in Hungary may be gradually stabilising, a development closely watched by investors and policymakers assessing the country’s short-term growth trajectory.
