Ireland’s HICP Inflation Eases Slightly to 3.5% in May

Ireland’s Harmonised Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) edged down to 3.5% year-on-year in May 2026, from 3.6% in April, according to data updated on 29 May 2026.

The May reading, measured on a year-over-year basis, shows a marginal cooling in inflation pressures compared with the same month a year earlier. The previous figure for April was also a year-on-year comparison, indicating that the pace of price growth has eased only slightly between the two months.

While the change is modest, the latest data suggest that consumer price growth in Ireland is stabilising rather than re-accelerating, a detail closely watched by markets and policymakers monitoring inflation dynamics across the euro area.
