Retail sales in Croatia increased by 0.4% year-on-year in June 2026, slightly below the 0.5% rise recorded in May and marking the weakest annual growth since March 2023. Sales of automotive fuels and lubricants contracted more sharply (-12.9% vs. -11.8% in May). In addition, internet and mail-order retail sales posted a steep decline (-3.2% vs. +3.6%).
By contrast, sales of food, beverages, and tobacco strengthened (2.9% vs. 1.9%), while sales of non-food products excluding automotive fuels and lubricants returned to growth, rising 1.5% after stagnating in the previous month. On a monthly basis, retail trade expanded by 1.5% in June, rebounding from a 2.0% drop in May. Over the first half of 2026, retail sales were up 1.9% compared with the same period a year earlier.
