Turkey’s Foreign Arrivals Decline Deepens in June, Extending Tourism Headwinds

Turkey recorded a sharper year-over-year decline in foreign tourist arrivals in June 2026, signaling persistent pressure on the country’s key tourism sector at the start of the summer season.

According to the latest data updated on 31 July 2026, foreign arrivals in June fell by 4.02% compared with June a year earlier. This marks a deterioration from May 2026, when arrivals were down 3.58% year-over-year. The figures show that the pace of decline has intensified month-on-month, despite June traditionally being one of Turkey’s stronger months for international tourism.

The data highlight that both the “previous” figure for May and the “actual” figure for June are measured on a year-over-year basis, comparing each month’s foreign arrivals to the same month in the prior year. The continued negative readings underscore ongoing challenges for Turkey’s tourism industry, an important source of foreign currency and employment.
