Serbia GDP Growth Rises to 2-Year High

Serbia’s GDP grew by 3.8% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2026, up from 3.2% in the previous quarter and revised upward from the initial estimate of 3.6%. This marked the fastest expansion since the second quarter of 2024, highlighting the economy’s resilience to the shocks from higher energy prices and trade disruptions following the outbreak of war in the Middle East.

Growth was driven in particular by a strong rebound in construction (9.1% vs. -9.7% in Q1), as well as solid gains in agriculture, forestry, and fishing (12.1% vs. 11.6%), financial and insurance services (5.2% vs. 7.1%), and professional, scientific, and technical activities (5.8% vs. 6.1%). On a quarter-on-quarter, seasonally adjusted basis, GDP increased by 1.5%, the strongest rise in three years.
