Taiwan’s Manufacturing Momentum Eases Slightly as August S&P Global PMI Slips to 54.7

Taiwan’s manufacturing sector maintained solid expansion in August, though at a slightly slower pace, as the S&P Global Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) edged down to 54.70 from 55.10 in July 2026.

Despite the modest decline, the August reading remains well above the 50-point threshold that separates expansion from contraction, indicating that overall manufacturing conditions in Taiwan continue to improve. The easing from July suggests some cooling in growth momentum, but not a reversal of the positive trend.

The latest data, updated on 01 September 2026, will be closely watched by market participants and policymakers for signs of whether this slight deceleration is temporary or the start of a more sustained moderation in Taiwan’s manufacturing cycle.
