Jordan Inflation Rate Hits 3-Month High

Jordan’s annual inflation rate quickened for the first time in four months, rising to 2.73% in September 2026 from a four-month low of 2.66% in August. This marked the highest rate since June. Transportation costs were the biggest driver of inflation, contributing 1.13 percentage points to the overall rate.

The government is set to raise fuel prices in October, after keeping them unchanged in September despite sharply higher global crude oil prices. At the same time, price declines across several food categories helped temper inflationary pressures in September.

Over the first nine months of the year, inflation averaged 2.26%, with housing rents emerging as the largest single contributor, adding 0.72 percentage points. On a monthly basis, the consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.16% in September—its first monthly rise in three months—following a 0.25% decline in August.
