10. Tencent

Tencent is the world’s largest investment enterprise and one of the major venture companies. It owns an instant messaging software service Tencent QQ and a mobile text and voice messaging app WeChat. It is the world’s third largest app by the number of users, after Facebook, Youtube, and Qzone.

Tencent focuses on various high-tech businesses including Internet services, artificial intelligence, and electronic entertainment research.

The company is ranked 21st in the Brand Finance Global 500 report.

9. WeChat

WeChat is a Chinese messaging and media app developed by Tencent. It supports the exchange of contacts via Bluetooth, including other ways of establishing connections with random people. The service is integrated with social networks such as Facebook and Tencent QQ. WeChat also offers its users the possibility to add filters and captions to photos, as well as machine translation.

The app is ranked 20th in the Brand Finance Global 500 report.

8. Bank of China

Bank of China Ltd is a financial group established on the basis of the oldest Chinese bank. Its headquarters are located in Beijing. The company’s commercial banking is accounted for up to 90% of operating profit, including corporate banking (42%), private banking (33%), and treasury operations (15%).

Some 6.5% of profit falls on investment banking and insurance. The company also provides domestic and international plastic cards services.

The bank is ranked 19th in the Brand Finance Global 500 report.

The State Grid Corporation of China is the world’s largest electric utility company.

The Agricultural Bank of China is one of the major banks in the country and the world. It has more than 23,600 branches and 19,700 operational offices on the territory of mainland China. Another 8 branches and 2 representative offices are located externally.

The Bank has 14 subsidiaries, 6 of them abroad, including Russia.

The Agricultural Bank of China is ranked 16th in the Brand Finance Global 500 report.

China Mobile is the largest global mobile operator. The number of its subscribers reached 899 million in 2018.

The company ranks 15th in the Brand Finance Global 500 report.

Ping An Insurance is a Chinese group of companies which deals with life and property insurance, banking services, and asset management.

Company’s insurance agents exceed one million people with the number of branches reaching more than 5 thousand.

Ping An is ranked 14th in the Brand Finance Global 500 report.

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. is one of the leading global telecommunication companies. In some countries it has surpassed Samsung and Apple by the number of smartphone online sales.

2. China Construction Bank

China Construction Bank is one of the major Chinese banks. Its network consists of 14,925 branches on the territory of mainland China and 10 abroad, including New York, Frankfurt, and Sydney.

China Construction Bank has several subsidiaries, such as CCB Principal Asset Management (asset management services), CCB Financial Leasing (lending), CCB Trust (trust fund), CCB Russia (Russin branch), CCB Dubai (branch in Dubai), etc.

The bank is ranked 10th in the Brand Finance Global 500 report.

1. ICBC

ICBC is one of China's ‘big four’ state-owned banks, along with Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China, and China Construction Bank.

The state is the major ICBC shareholder. The total number of company’s stockholders is more than 500 thousand.

The bank accounts for a fifth of Chinese banking sector. Its main activity region is the People’s Republic of China which accounts for more than 90% of the bank’s revenue and assets. Half of the foreign operations is carried out in Hong Kong and Macau.

ICBC carries out the yuan clearing transactions in six countries: Singapore, Luxembourg, Thailand, Canada, Argentina, and Russia.

The network of foreign offices includes 419 organizations in 45 countries. ICBC is represented in 20 African countries through a partnership with the South African Standard Bank.

The bank is ranked 8th in the Brand Finance Global 500 report.
