French Stocks Up Slightly After Weak Start

French stocks showed a slight increase on Tuesday morning, bouncing back after a weak opening. Investors are currently evaluating the potential actions of the Trump administration concerning global trade and tariff implementations.

The financial community is also focused on events at the World Economic Forum, which commenced on Monday in Davos, Switzerland.

The CAC 40 index, which initially dipped to 7,713.26 before climbing to 7,745.28, saw a modest rise of 3.14 points, or 0.04%, reaching 7,736.64.

LVMH is seeing an increase of over 1.5%, while Renault is up by 1.2%. Hermes International is also on the rise with a nearly 1% increase. Other stocks like STMicroElectronics, Safran, Veolia, Accor, Essilor, and Dassault Systemes have gained between 0.3% and 0.75%.

On the downside, Teleperformance has dropped approximately 1.3%, with ArcelorMittal and Stellantis down by 1.2% and 1.1%, respectively. Airbus, Unibail Rodamco, Pernod Ricard, and Societe Generale are seeing declines ranging from 0.6% to 1%, while Air Liquide and Carrefour are slightly lower.

According to the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA), new car sales in the EU experienced a rebound at year-end, largely fueled by substantial growth in Spain's car market.

In December, new car registrations climbed 5.1% compared to the previous year, reaching 910,505 units, reversing a 1.9% decrease noted in November. Among the major markets, Spain recorded a significant double-digit growth of 28.8%, with France seeing a moderate increase of 1.5%. Conversely, Germany experienced a 7.1% decline in sales, while Italy saw a decrease of 4.9%.
