United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), a prominent global player in the semiconductor foundry industry, announced a net income for the fourth quarter of NT$8.50 billion attributable to shareholders of the parent company. This marks a decrease from the NT$13.20 billion reported in the same period the previous year. Earnings per basic share stood at NT$0.68, down from NT$1.06. The fourth quarter revenue reached NT$60.39 billion, reflecting a 9.9% increase compared to the prior year.
UMC indicated that its fourth-quarter results aligned with their guidance, with both wafer shipments and utilization rates slightly surpassing expectations. Looking ahead to the first quarter of 2025, the company anticipates that wafer shipments will remain steady.
