In February 2025, Bulgaria reported a current account deficit of €392.2 million, contrasting significantly with the €57.2 million surplus recorded in the same month the previous year. This shift was largely attributable to an expanded goods deficit, which escalated to €367.9 million from €339.4 million in February 2024. Furthermore, there was a marked increase in the primary income gap, rising to €515.2 million from €118.4 million the prior year. Meanwhile, the secondary income surplus contracted considerably to €13.9 million from €40.8 million. Conversely, the services account surplus experienced a slight uptick, reaching €477 million from €474.2 million.
