In May 2025, the total net inflow from net foreign acquisitions of long-term securities, short-term U.S. securities, and banking flows amounted to $311.1 billion. This figure reflects $333.2 billion in net private inflows, which was slightly countered by $22.1 billion in net outflows from foreign official institutions. Foreign residents increased their investments in long-term U.S. securities, making net purchases of $318.5 billion. Of this amount, private foreign investors contributed $287.5 billion, while foreign official entities invested an additional $31.1 billion. Simultaneously, U.S. residents expanded their foreign investments, making net purchases of long-term foreign securities worth $59.1 billion.
