In June 2025, Cyprus experienced an expansion in its trade deficit, increasing to EUR 608.2 million from EUR 467.8 million in the same period the previous year. This widening trade gap was largely driven by a significant 21.1% year-on-year increase in total imports, which amounted to EUR 1,114.7 million. The growth in imports was bolstered by notable rises in purchases from non-EU countries, which soared by 43.9%, and from EU member states, which saw a 6.1% increase. On the export front, Cyprus registered an 11.9% increase, with total exports reaching EUR 506.5 million. This growth was primarily attributed to a 12.4% rise in shipments to non-EU countries and a 10.7% increase in exports to EU nations.
