FX.co ★ Vietnam Retail Sales Rise 11.8% in May

Retail sales in Vietnam increased by 11.8% year-on-year in May 2026, easing slightly from a 12.1% rise in April. Growth remained broadly based across major categories. Sales of goods, which represented 75.9% of total retail activity, climbed 11.3%, compared with 12.2% in the previous month. Service-related categories continued to outperform, with both accommodation and food services, as well as travel and tourism services, recording robust growth of 15.4%. Other services also strengthened, rising 10.8% year-on-year, up from 9.4% in April. Over the first five months of the year, total retail sales were up 11.2% from the same period a year earlier.
