International arrivals to Vietnam rose 16.5% year-on-year to 1.78 million in May 2026, marking a seven-month low and easing from a 22.8% surge in April. Despite this moderation, growth remained broad-based across major source markets. Visitors from Asia, Vietnam’s largest tourism market, increased 9.7%, supported by higher arrivals from China (8.9%), Japan (18.7%), Taiwan (12.6%), Malaysia (17.3%), and Thailand (9.0%). Arrivals from the Americas climbed 18.5%, driven by stronger visitor numbers from the United States (16.4%) and Canada (31.4%). Meanwhile, European arrivals jumped 64.0%, led by a sharp increase in visitors from Russia (159.8%), alongside solid growth from the United Kingdom (10.3%) and France (21.8%). Visitor numbers from Australia rose 30.4%, while arrivals from Africa increased 19.0%. Over the first five months of 2026, international arrivals to Vietnam reached 10.57 million, up 14.9% from the same period a year earlier.
