Sweden Consumer Morale at 10-Month High

In October 2025, Sweden's household confidence indicator rose to 96.8, an improvement from the revised figure of 93.3 in September, although it still lags behind the long-term average. This latest reading represents the highest level of consumer confidence since January. Notably, households expressed a positive outlook on their financial situation over the past year, with the indicator moving to 3 from -5 in September. Looking ahead, expectations for personal finances over the next twelve months showed further strength, rising to 16 from 14.

Additionally, perceptions of the national economy over the past year improved, with the indicator becoming less negative, moving from -39 to -32. Meanwhile, expectations for the economy in the coming year also saw a slight improvement, with the figure moving from -6 to -5. The sense of job insecurity decreased, as fewer respondents anticipated an increase in unemployment rates, with the indicator shifting from 30 to 20, aligning with the historical norm. Furthermore, inflation expectations for the year ahead declined slightly to 6.7% from 6.9%, while mortgage rate expectations remained stable at 3.4%, compared to 3.5% previously.
