Egypt’s Core CPI Inches Up to 14.7% YoY in July 2026

Egypt’s core consumer price index (CPI) rose to 14.70% year-on-year in July 2026, up from 14.30% in June 2026, according to data updated on 10 August 2026. The figures indicate a slight acceleration in underlying inflationary pressures in the Egyptian economy.

The core CPI measure excludes volatile items and reflects the year-on-year change for July compared with the same month a year earlier. Similarly, the June reading of 14.30% was calculated against June of the previous year. The uptick suggests that while inflation remains elevated, the pace of underlying price increases has gained some momentum heading into the second half of 2026.

For policymakers and investors, the move from 14.30% to 14.70% year-on-year underscores persistent price pressures that could influence expectations around interest rates, currency dynamics, and broader economic conditions in Egypt over the coming months.
