Denmark Inflation Hits Nearly 2-Year High

In July 2025, Denmark experienced a notable increase in its annual inflation rate, climbing to 2.3% from June's 1.9%. This represented the highest inflation level observed since August 2023, primarily fueled by a rise in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, which surged to 6.5% from June's 5.2%. Additionally, the cost of housing and utilities increased to 2.4% from 1.8%, communication expenses rose to 3.8% from 2.4%, and recreation and culture saw a significant jump to 4.2% from 1.5%. Conversely, some sectors experienced a slowdown in price growth, including health, which eased to 2.3% from 2.9%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco, down to 0.6% from 0.9%, and restaurants and hotels, which declined to 0.1% from 0.9%. More notably, transport costs decreased to -1.1% from a slight increase of 0.1%. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices rose by 1.5%, following a marginal 0.2% increase in the previous month. Core inflation, which excludes volatile items like energy and unprocessed food, climbed to 2.2% in July, marking the highest level recorded since January 2024, up from 1.9% in June.
